I’m Joshua Biggers, U.S. Army Retired, and I’m running for County Commissioner of Ashe County NC. I wanted to take just a minute and explain why I’m a great candidate for the job.
I’m a prominent member of the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, Ashe County VFW Adjutant Officer (Veterans of Foreign Wars), Ashe County Veterans Non-profit Founder (Operations Restart Now, Inc.), Ashe County Freelance Journalist for High Country Press, Ashe County Young Professionals Moderator, and a Political Science University Professor.
My North Carolinian family roots can be traced back 10+ generations. I’m proud to have retired from the U.S. Army after multiple tours including Operation Enduring Freedom & Operation Noble Eagle throughout Afghanistan, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan. My academic accomplishments include a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Leadership Studies. Followed by an MBA (Masters in Business Administration), and a Doctorate studying the Sociological Human Behavior & Integration Methods of Military Veterans.
My career experiences continued after military retirement when I founded Operation Restart Now, Inc, a non-profit focused on helping veterans through the transitional process from combat to the civilian workforce as well as finding potential residential properties for veterans who couldn’t afford VA home loans.
I’m excited, ambitious and motivated to set my sights on my next endeavor with being elected to public office here in Ashe County and serving the great people of the coolest corner of North Carolina.
Hebrews 10:24-25 – 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the day approaching.
“A politicians most important job is to make the lives of his or her constituents better. Negative politics is unacceptable and I will personally have nothing to do with it.”
This is the #1 question I’m asked……..First and foremost, I think Ashe County is doing amazing and I absolutely love to call the place my home. None the less, I hope to be able to provide some new ideas, different outlooks on growth, and perhaps a youthful and vibrant take on tourism and entertainment.
